This Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:
Working as a Child Life Specialist for Martha Eliot/Early Intervention Program for ages 0-3.
Participating in therapeutic activities and programs primarily on home visits, to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences.
Serving as member of multidisciplinary team.
Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participates in clinical training of student interns.
Working primarily on home visits, in very diverse communities (Roxbury, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, etc.); and working one day per week at Boston Children’s main campus.
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a focus on child development and ages 0-3.
Must have 600 Child Life internship hours under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
Eligibility for Certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS). Certification is required within 18 months of hire for all new hires.
Comfort with family-centered work and experience with infants and toddlers with special needs is necessary.
Ability to travel to patient homes.
General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced?based knowledge.
Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
