The Child Life Supervisor provides supervision to a team of clinical support. The supervisor is responsible for coaching, mentoring, modeling best practices, scheduling, managing Paid Time Off (PTO) and day-to-day performance for direct reports. The position provides oversight of patient care and manages patient flow for Child Life and is responsible for ensuring appropriate care is provided by child life staff.
Department: Anschutz Child Life Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits Shift: M-F 9-5:30; one weekend a month-Sat/Sun 9-5:30

Mentors and supports staff on a daily basis, while creating a culture and atmosphere that will lead to a high level of employee engagement.
Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction (OTJ or formal training) and develops team members. Evaluates performance of team members, providing continuous feedback. Addresses discipline and performance issues; hires and fires team members. Identifies resource needs and develops recommendations for meeting needs.
Supervises day-to-day activities of team members including, but not limited to, assigning and reviews work, provides work instruction, developing team members and time keeping administration.
Participates in labor cost and financial component decisions related to day-to-day operations.
Complies with all regulatory standards, hospital policies/procedures and quality/patient safety standards.
Acts as a working supervisor to assist with patient and family interactions and facilitating care plans; remains available to provide coverage as needed.
Establishes team communication norms and staff rounding.
Assists with the implementation and maintenance of department specific policies, procedures, and guidelines while ensuring consistency with evidence-based practice and organizational policies, standards, and procedures.
Resolves operational and patient/family issues, making decisions that are inclusive of multiple perspectives and solves underlying problems.
Assists team members in achieving unit outcomes, performance and professional development standards; identifies opportunities for continual improvement.
Monitors expenditures for unit/department and participates in the development of budget recommendations.
EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related fields.
EXPERIENCE – Four years previous experience in providing child life services in a healthcare setting.
EQUIVALENCY – A Master or higher degree in a related field may substitute for the experience requirements on a year for year basis.
CERTIFICATION(S) – Child Life Professional Certification (CCLS)
