Functioning as a member of the Child Life and Creative Arts Department, the Special Event and Community Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for tasks including, but not limited to, planning, scheduling, and evaluating special events and therapeutic entertainment, assisting in departmental administrative and clinical tasks and upgrading, as needed, of all volunteer materials, training tools and schedules for volunteers. Works collaboratively with internal and external partners to successfully plan and execute special event functions. The Special Event and Community Volunteer Coordinator conducts volunteer trainings and maintains all volunteer schedules within the Child Life and Creative Arts Department, Family Resource Center, Broadcasting Studio, and Story Corner. Additionally, Collaborates with hospital staff to develop the resources and logistics necessary for successful events, for optimizing event attendance, and management of in-kind donations from the community.

Engages with internal and external stakeholders to develop guest lists, plans budgets, devises communication materials, allocates staff, and coordinates other logistics as necessary.

Plans for contingencies for events to increase the likelihood of a successful event.

Collaborates effectively with multidisciplinary teams to assess programming needs and communicating needs effectively to the necessary departments.

Oversees all volunteers and volunteer programs within Child Life, Creative Arts, Family Resource Center, Broadcasting Studio and Story Corner.

Screens potential patient visitors, entertainers, and partnering groups for appropriateness, educational and therapeutic value.

Communicates the psychosocial and developmental needs of patients to potential visitors/entertainers in order to provide programs that are therapeutic and entertaining and protect the privacy and confidentiality of patients and families.

Prepares and executes the appropriate metrics to determine the effectiveness of an event, which is essential in the planning and refining of future events.

Coordinates and provides leadership for all departmental special events, donations and maintains volunteer schedules.

Collaborates with teams for media and fundraising as they relate to special events.

Ensures all appropriate patient consents and media is coordinated as well as post event follow up.

Organizes, maintains, conducts and updates as needed all volunteer training materials (e.g. videos, training module questions, packets and handouts).

Facilitates efficient written and verbal communication with volunteers prior to, during and upon ending their role within the departments.

Serves as the day of coordinator for all Child Life and Creative Arts special events at LPCHS
Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

Experience: 1 year of experience in volunteer program oversight, child life, or in a hospital setting.

License/Certification: None required.
