The Pediatric Emergency Department Child Life Specialist I provides comprehensive child life services for patients and families including creating and implementing coping strategies, developing pain management plans, facilitating age appropriate education to enhance understanding of care and promoting play and expressive opportunities.  Functions as a key member of the healthcare team, communicating developmental and psychosocial information to other team members.

Wednesday through Saturday 12-10pm

The Children's Emergency Department is tailored to the needs of children and their families, with a separate space from the adult ED.  The location houses a newly established special "resuscitation space" for critical care cases to enhance treatment for the sickest children and a low-stimulation room- a quieter and calmer area for children with autism or other sensory challenges.

The Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department at the Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital is a 30+ person program incorporating a wide range of therapeutic modalities with a strong emphasis on clinical supervision.  

All applicants must have CCLS certification or be certification eligible by the ACLP, including successful completion of a child life internship in a pediatric healthcare setting under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.  Experience working in a pediatric Emergency Department setting and fluency in Spanish preferred.  Must receive child life certification within one year of hire.  

Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.  Ability to work collaboratively and in a positive manner and prioritize and to complete duties in a timely manner.
