The Child Life Specialist is an essential role that provides developmental support while assisting patients and families in coping during all aspects of their healthcare journey. Document patient's developmental needs, managing and plan to facilitate mastery in patient medical records, and recognize subtle changes in patient psychosocial assessment.
Facilitate coping assessment, individual and group support, procedural and surgical preparation and support, medical play, and coordinate and initiate involvement in appropriate community activities.
Prepare siblings for visitation and anticipated events related to treatment and provide sibling support and provide psychosocial support and opportunities for continued coping and normal growth.
Work Experience
Required: Completion of Child Life Specialist Internship
Education
Required: Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
License and Certifications
Child Life Specialist Professional Certification or ability to obtain certification within eighteen months of hire date.
