Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time child Life Specialist for the Child Life Program at Morristown Medical Center to work varied day/evening hours, including weekends as needed. This is a float position with a concentration within the Emergency Department.
Responsibilities
Essential Function/Responsibilities:
Provide therapeutic interventions and play activities to promote the physical, emotional, and developmental growth of patients and minimize potential stress and trauma for patients and families in both an ER and inpatient setting.
Promotes optimal development and prevents psychological trauma by providing child life programming for infants, children, and youth within the inpatient unit.
Provides Child Life services to pediatric patients based on an understanding of child development and the impact that illness, injury, diagnosis, and hospitalization have on this process.
Develops and executes individual treatment sessions and group activity programming.
Plans and provides developmentally appropriate patient and family centered care interventions including but not limited to procedural support, diagnosis education, coping support, and therapeutic play.
Maintains records, statistics, schedules, and other appropriate documentation.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
Required Education: Minimum bachelor's degree in Child Life or related field.
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Child Life or related field.
License or Certifications:
Eligible for Child Life certification - obtaining certification within one year of employment (Currently completing ACLP accredited Child Life Internship).
Professional Child Life certification preferred.
Experience:
Required Experience: Clinical experience associated with completion of ACLP accredited Child Life Internship.
Preferred Experience: 1-2 years of working Child Life experience
