Role Summary

As a Child Life Specialist, you will:

• Provide psychosocial assessments and individualized care plans
• Implement therapeutic programs to support emotional, physical, and developmental growth
• Prepare children for medical procedures using coping strategies and medical play
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote family-centered care
• Supervise and mentor Child Life interns and volunteers
• Advocate for pediatric patients and their families during hospitalization

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university, preferably in one of the following fields:

• Psychology
• Human Development and Family Studies
• Recreation Therapy
• Leisure Studies
• Or a closely related field

Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in child life, recreation therapy, or a related field
• Completion of a 600-hour clinical child life internship under the supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist is required

Licensure/Certification:

• Child Life Specialists must obtain Child Life Specialist Certification within one (1) year of hire
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
