The Child Life Supervisor supports the leadership of Child Life and Education with the operations of the department. Supervises staff, staff recruiting/recognition/retention and staff development programs. Provides unit coverage for clinical services.

Description

1. Gathers information and document the psychosocial needs of patients and families through patient/family meeting, nursing report and consultation with medical staff.

2. Ensures patients and families receive appropriate clinical services, medical plan, prepare families for medical events, assist with hospitalization and diagnosis, emotional support and discharge planning.

3. Provides patients and families with developmental services including group activities and interventions.

4. Maintains safe environment with appropriate materials and supplies to make it conducive to play with documented attendance and interventions.

5. Supervises, orients, and trains volunteers and Interns to provide quality interactions with patients.

6. Assists Manager with department goals, action plans, new employee orientation, training, serving on committees, and all HR activities.

7. Supervises department staff delegating patient care services, projects, research, volunteer supervision and committee appointments.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree

Required Work Experience:

Related Field - 4 years with 1 year of leadership experience

Required Certifications:

Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) 

Recommended Certifications:

Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP), Music Therapist - Board Certified (MT-BC) - American Music Therapy Association, Teacher's License (AR) - AR Department of Education
